Snow Day? SOLSC

The buzz rose throughout the day as more and more snow accumulated. Kids asked, "Will there be a snow day tomorrow?" Kids made predictions. After kids were released, teachers wondered the same thing. There was a good chance for either - all depending on the events leading up to the condition of the roads in the morning.

This morning I woke up to the sound of the snow plow moving on the street behind my house. I glanced at the clock - 5:15. It probably won't be a snow day, I thought, especially if I don't get a call very soon. I settled back in for the last little bit before my alarm would go off.

I continued to hear the plow - back and forth three or four more times. But no call. So off to school with a smile on my face for a snowy January day with the kids.

  1. I'm guessing the sound of the snow plow isn't a good sign of a snow day. We need one every now and again, but it wasn't your time today. But there is time to capture the beauty of the snow - enjoy! I'm kinda missing our usual snow here in the midwest.

  2. That's the worst... when the call doesn't come but it should. UGH! I felt your pain by the time I reached the end of your writing. On the bright side, that's one less day to make up in the future!

  3. I know that feeling so well...listening to the snow plow and waiting for the phone call. My daughter is an exchange student in Turkey. She had a snow day today for 3 inches of snow AND school is cancelled for tomorrow as well. :)

  4. I feel your pain! I feel that last year I (and we) were cheated out of snow-days! I am hoping that this year will bring lots of snow (of course only for the environmental reasons; helping the low water levels in the great lakes), and at least a few snow days!

  5. Ahh! How well I know that anticipation. Will they call it off? Won't they? Am I going to have to drive on yucky roads? The best are when they have to call school off the night before…
